The binding and activation of the receptor activates Janus protein kinases, which phosphorylate a number of proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. The protein functions as an antiviral compound and belongs to the cytokine receptor type II family. Two diseases associated with IFNAR1 are Yellow Fever and Papillomavirus.
