Candida albicans CSA2 Recombinant Protein (C-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Asn34-Asn147, with a C-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 13.02 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Secreted hemophore CSA2 is a ~15 kDa protein. Secreted heme-binding protein involved in the utilization of iron from human hemoglobin during hyphal growth. For research use only.
May also play a role in non-hemoglobin iron utilization. Heme transfer occurs between PGA7, RBT5 and CSA2 supporting a model in which the 3 CFEM proteins cooperate in a heme-acquisition system and form a cross-cell wall heme-transfer cascade. The ability to acquire iron from host tissues is a major virulence factor of pathogenic microorganisms.
