Description

Bovine INHbE ELISA Kit

Bovine INHbE ELISA kits are used to detect Inhibin Beta E (INHbE) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. INHbE, the inhibin beta E chain, is a subunit of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily that forms the homodimer activin E and may pair with other inhibin or activin subunits. Unlike the other beta chains, it is expressed mainly in the liver, and its expression increases under metabolic stress, nutrient overload and endoplasmic reticulum stress. Inhibins and activins as a group help regulate pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone secretion, gonadal function, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, cell survival and embryonic development, with inhibins generally opposing activin action. More recent work indicates that INHBE influences fat distribution and energy balance, and loss-of-function variants have been associated with healthier fat distribution, so it is studied in obesity.
