Description

DAG ELISA Kit

DAG ELISA kits are used to detect Diacylglycerol (DAG) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. Diacylglycerol (DAG) is a glycerol molecule esterified with two fatty acids, and it serves both as an intermediate in lipid metabolism and as an important second messenger. It is generated at the membrane when phospholipase C hydrolyses phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate, giving DAG and inositol trisphosphate, and it can also be formed during triglyceride and phospholipid synthesis or breakdown. As a signalling lipid, DAG recruits and activates protein kinase C isoforms, as well as other effectors such as RasGRP and Munc13, and it is removed by diacylglycerol kinases that convert it to phosphatidic acid. Sustained elevation of DAG has been associated with insulin resistance in liver and muscle, so it is studied in signal transduction, metabolism and diabetes research.
