Description

Dog F8 ELISA Kit

Dog F8 ELISA kits are used to detect Coagulation Factor VIII (F8) in plasma and other biological samples. Coagulation factor VIII is a large plasma glycoprotein synthesized mainly by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells and other endothelial cells. In the blood it circulates tightly bound to von Willebrand factor, which protects it from degradation. After activation by thrombin it acts as a cofactor for activated factor IX, and together with calcium and phospholipid surfaces this complex converts factor X to factor Xa, greatly amplifying thrombin generation in the intrinsic pathway. Deficiency or dysfunction caused by mutations in the X-linked F8 gene results in hemophilia A, which causes bleeding into joints and muscles. Elevated factor VIII levels, in contrast, have been associated with an increased risk of venous thrombosis and are seen during acute-phase responses.
