ENaC alpha Antibody [14E10] is a mouse monoclonal antibody directed against ENaC alpha, offered by Assay Genie for research applications. Reported applications include WB and IHC. Reported reactivity: Mouse and Rat. Supplied as IgG1, purified by Protein G.
The epithelial sodium channel alpha subunit (ENaCα) is a key component of the heterotrimeric ENaC complex, which regulates sodium ion transport across epithelial membranes. While traditionally studied in renal, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal systems, emerging evidence highlights ENaCα’s relevance in the central nervous system and neurodegenerative disease. ENaCα modulates ionic homeostasis and fluid balance in neural tissues, contributing to neuroprotection under stress conditions. In models of ocular hypertension, upregulation of ENaCα in retinal tissues suggests a compensatory mechanism to counteract elevated intraocular pressure, a known risk factor for glaucoma. Additionally, ENaCα expression is dynamically regulated during keratinocyte differentiation, indicating its broader role in cellular stress responses and tissue remodeling. These findings point to ENaCα as a potential modulator of neuroinflammation and glial activation—processes central to neurodegenerative pathologies such as Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. As interest grows in ion channel dysfunction in neurodegeneration, ENaCα is gaining attention as a novel target for therapeutic intervention. Its role in maintaining ionic equilibrium and responding to mechanical and osmotic stress positions it at the intersection of neuroscience, neuroprotection, and precision medicine. This antibody is also available conjugated to ATTO 390, ATTO 488, ATTO 594, APC, Biotin, FITC, HRP, PerCP and RPE. Supplied in 100 µg.
