Description

ET ELISA Kit

ET ELISA kits are used to detect Epitestosterone (ET) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Epitestosterone (ET) is the 17-alpha epimer of testosterone, produced in the testes and, to a lesser degree, the adrenal glands and ovaries, and excreted in the urine mainly as a glucuronide conjugate. It has little androgenic activity and may act as a weak anti-androgen by competing with testosterone and inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase, although its physiological function is not well defined. Its production does not respond to exogenous testosterone, so urinary levels stay stable while testosterone rises after administration. This makes the testosterone to epitestosterone ratio a classic screening parameter in anti-doping control, and the molecule is also studied in research on androgen metabolism, prostate disease and hyperandrogenic states.
