Description

Goat IFN alpha ELISA Kit

Goat IFN alpha ELISA kits are used to detect Interferon Alpha (IFN alpha) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. IFN alpha is the collective name for the type I interferon alpha family, a group of more than a dozen closely related secreted cytokines encoded by clustered genes. They are produced mainly by plasmacytoid dendritic cells, macrophages and other leukocytes in response to viral nucleic acids, and signal through the shared IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 receptor to induce an antiviral state in neighbouring cells. Interferon stimulates enzymes such as protein kinase R and oligoadenylate synthetase that limit viral protein synthesis and degrade viral RNA. Elevated interferon alpha signalling is a feature of systemic lupus erythematosus and other autoimmune diseases, while recombinant forms are used therapeutically in viral hepatitis and some cancers.
