Description

GTD ELISA Kit

GTD ELISA kits are used to detect Gastrodin (GTD) in biological samples. Gastrodin (GTD) is a phenolic glycoside, chemically 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, and is the main bioactive compound of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Gastrodia elata, a tuberous orchid. After administration it is partly converted to its aglycone, 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, and can cross the blood-brain barrier. Studies in experimental models have reported sedative, anticonvulsant, analgesic, antioxidant and neuroprotective effects, with suggested actions on GABAergic transmission, anti-inflammatory signalling and the Nrf2 pathway. It is used in China for headache, dizziness and epilepsy-related complaints and has been investigated in cerebral ischaemia and neurodegenerative disease models. Because of this interest in neuropharmacology, GTD is measured in pharmacokinetic and natural product research.
