Description

Horse ADP ELISA Kit

Horse ADP ELISA kits are used to detect Adiponectin (ADP) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. ADP, or adiponectin, is an adipokine secreted abundantly by adipocytes that circulates in low, middle and high molecular weight complexes. It regulates fat metabolism and insulin sensitivity by acting through the receptors ADIPOR1 and ADIPOR2, stimulating AMPK activation in liver and skeletal muscle to increase glucose utilisation and fatty acid oxidation. It also has anti-atherogenic and anti-inflammatory effects, antagonising TNF expression and activity and inhibiting endothelial NF-kappa B signalling, and it may bind growth factors to influence tissue remodelling. Unusually for an adipokine, its levels fall as fat mass increases. Low adiponectin has been associated with obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, fatty liver disease and kidney disease, which makes it a widely used metabolic biomarker.
