Description

Human 5HTR5A ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human 5HTR5A ELISA kits are used to detect 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor R5A (5HTR5A) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. 5HTR5A (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 5A, or 5-HT5A) is a G protein-coupled receptor for serotonin and a member of the 5-HT5 subfamily, which is among the least well characterised of the serotonin receptors. It is expressed mainly in the central nervous system, including cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum and spinal cord, and is thought to couple to Gi/o proteins to inhibit adenylate cyclase. Its physiological roles are still being defined but it has been linked to the modulation of mood, circadian rhythms, memory and locomotor activity. Because several antipsychotic and psychedelic compounds bind this receptor, 5HTR5A is of interest in neuropsychiatric research, although its clinical associations remain tentative.
