Description
Human A2ML1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human A2ML1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Glu18-Pro889, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 99.68 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Alpha-2-macroglobulin-like protein 1 is a ~161 kDa protein. Is able to inhibit all four classes of proteinases by a unique 'trapping' mechanism. For research use only.
This protein has a peptide stretch, called the 'bait region' which contains specific cleavage sites for different proteinases. When a proteinase cleaves the bait region, a conformational change is induced in the protein which traps the proteinase. The entrapped enzyme remains active against low molecular weight substrates (activity against high molecular weight substrates is greatly reduced). Following cleavage in the bait region a thioester bond is hydrolyzed and mediates the covalent binding of the protein to the proteinase.
