Description

Human ACTg2 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human ACTg2 ELISA kits are used to detect Actin Gamma 2, Smooth Muscle (ACTg2) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. ACTg2, smooth muscle gamma-actin or gamma-enteric actin, is one of the actin isoforms, highly conserved cytoskeletal proteins involved in cell motility, and it is expressed predominantly in the visceral smooth muscle of the digestive and urinary tracts. In smooth muscle cells it forms part of the contractile apparatus, where actin filaments interact with myosin to generate the force for peristalsis and bladder contraction. Variants in the corresponding gene cause visceral myopathy, an autosomal dominant form of myopathic pseudo-obstruction in which impaired enteric smooth muscle function leads to abnormal motility, severe abdominal pain and malnutrition. ACTg2 is therefore studied in gastrointestinal motility disorders and smooth muscle biology.
