Description

Human ADIG ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human ADIG ELISA kits are used to detect Adipogenin (ADIG) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ADIG, or adipogenin, is a small membrane protein that is strongly induced during adipocyte differentiation and is also known as small adipocyte factor 1. It regulates lipid storage and promotes the growth of lipid droplets as adipocytes mature. It acts by forming a larger complex with seipin, the lipid droplet assembly protein encoded by BSCL2, where it counteracts seipin activity, reduces triacylglycerol nucleation and relieves seipin inhibition of the enzymes GPAT3 and GPAT4. These enzymes then move to lipid droplets and drive triacylglycerol synthesis and droplet expansion. Through this role in fat storage, ADIG is of interest in studies of adipose tissue biology, obesity and metabolic disease.
