Description

Human AGR2 ELISA Kit

Human AGR2 ELISA kits are used to detect Anterior Gradient Protein 2 (AGR2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. AGR2, or anterior gradient protein 2, is a member of the protein disulphide isomerase family that is found mainly in the endoplasmic reticulum of mucus-secreting epithelial cells, such as goblet cells of the intestine and airway, and it is also found outside cells. It is needed for the post-translational synthesis and secretion of the gel-forming mucin MUC2, probably by assisting its folding, and so is important for the production of the protective mucus layer. AGR2 also functions as a proto-oncogene influencing cell migration, differentiation, growth and adhesion. AGR2 is overexpressed in many adenocarcinomas, and its secreted form is studied as a cancer biomarker.
