Human ALKBH4 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Thr8-Val302, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 35.52 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 4 (ALKBH4) is a ~33 kDa protein. Dioxygenase that mediates demethylation of actin monomethylated at 'Lys-84' (K84me1), thereby acting as a regulator of actomyosin-processes. For research use only.
Demethylation of actin K84me1 is required for maintaining actomyosin dynamics supporting normal cleavage furrow ingression during cytokinesis and cell migration. In addition to proteins, also demethylates DNA: specifically demethylates DNA methylated on the 6th position of adenine (N(6)-methyladenosine) DNA, thereby regulating Polycomb silencing.
