Human AMPK alpha-2 / PRKAA2 ELISA Kit

AMPK alpha-2/PRKAA2 is a protein subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). The non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits make up the heterotrimer AMPK. This energy-sensing enzyme, also known as the master regulator, is responsible for monitoring cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic challenges, AMPK is activated, and it phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in controlling de novo lipogenesis of fatty acid. Studies of the mouse version suggest that this catalysise subunit regulates whole-body insulin sensitivity and is critical for preserving cardiac energy balance during ischemia. Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome and Ischemia are two diseases linked to PRKAA2. Mitochondrial Gene Expression and Regulation of TP53 Activity are two pathways that are related to AMPK alpha-2/PRKAA2.
