Description

Human AngI ELISA Kit

Human AngI ELISA kits are used to detect Angiotensin I (AngI) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. AngI, or angiotensin I, is a decapeptide formed when the enzyme renin, released by the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney, cleaves the N-terminus of angiotensinogen, a protein secreted mainly by the liver. It serves as the precursor of angiotensin II, to which it is converted mainly by angiotensin-converting enzyme in the lung vasculature and in other tissues, and it can also be converted by ACE2 to angiotensin 1-9. Because renin activity is the rate-limiting step of the renin-angiotensin system, the amount of angiotensin I generated is used as an index of plasma renin activity. Altered angiotensin I levels have been associated with hypertension, kidney disease and heart failure, so it is studied in blood pressure regulation.
