Human APEH / Acylamino-acid-releasing enzyme ELISA Kit

The enzyme acylpeptide hydrolase is encoded by APEH, and it catalyses the hydrolysis of the terminal acetylated amino acid from short acetylated peptides. An aminoacylase converts the acetyl amino acid produced by this hydrolase to acetate and a free amino acid. APEH is found in the same area of chromosome 3 (3p21) as the aminoacylase gene, and deletions at this locus have been linked to lower aminoacylase activity. The acylpeptide hydrolase is a 300-kDa homotetrameric protein having 732 amino acid residues in each component. It has the potential to aid in the destruction of oxidatively damaged proteins in live cells. Various forms of carcinomas, including small cell lung carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma, have deletions of APEH locus. Campylobacteriosis and Endocardium Disease are two diseases linked to APEH.
