Description

Human APOM ELISA Kit

Human APOM ELISA kits are used to detect Apolipoprotein M (APOM) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. APOM, apolipoprotein M, is a small lipocalin-family apolipoprotein produced mainly in the liver and kidney and found largely on HDL particles, with smaller amounts on LDL and triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. Its structure forms a hydrophobic pocket that can carry lipid ligands, notably sphingosine-1-phosphate, as well as retinoic acid, retinol and fatty acids, and it is thought to participate in lipid transport. By delivering sphingosine-1-phosphate to its receptors on endothelial cells, it supports vascular barrier function and anti-inflammatory signalling. Lower ApoM levels have been associated with metabolic syndrome, diabetes, atherosclerosis, sepsis and some forms of liver disease, so it is studied as a modulator of HDL function and as a possible biomarker.
