Description

Human AREG ELISA Kit

Human AREG ELISA kits are used to detect Amphiregulin (AREG) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. AREG is a member of the epidermal growth factor family that is synthesised as a membrane-anchored precursor and released by proteolytic cleavage. It is a ligand of the EGF receptor, acting as an autocrine growth factor and as a mitogen for a broad range of target cells, including astrocytes, Schwann cells and fibroblasts. It is produced by epithelial cells, immune cells such as mast cells, eosinophils and regulatory T cells, and the ovary and mammary gland, and it contributes to tissue repair and mammary duct development. Elevated AREG has been associated with chronic inflammation, fibrosis, allergic disease and many carcinomas, where it may support growth and drug resistance, so it is widely studied as a mediator of EGFR signalling.
