Description

Human ARRb2 ELISA Kit

Human ARRb2 ELISA kits are used to detect Arrestin Beta 2 (ARRb2) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. ARRb2, or beta-arrestin-2 (arrestin-3), is a widely expressed scaffold protein that regulates G protein-coupled receptor signalling. It binds receptors that have been phosphorylated by GPCR kinases, sterically blocking further G protein coupling, a process termed desensitisation, and it recruits clathrin and AP2 to drive receptor internalisation, which later allows resensitisation or degradation. Beyond this, ARRb2 acts as a signalling scaffold that assembles kinase cascades, including MAPK and Akt pathways, independently of G proteins, and it influences NF-kappa-B signalling and inflammation. Because it determines the balance between G protein and arrestin signalling, ARRb2 is central to research on biased agonism, and its altered activity has been associated with opioid tolerance, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
