Human ASIC1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)

Human ASIC1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning His72-Tyr426, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 43.10 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Acid-sensing ion channel 1 (ASIC1) is a ~59 kDa protein. Forms voltage-independent, pH-gated trimeric sodium channels that act as postsynaptic excitatory receptors in the nervous system, playing a crucial role in regulating synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory. For research use only.

Upon extracellular pH drop this channel elicits transient, fast activating, and completely desensitizing inward currents. Displays high selectivity for sodium ions but can also permit the permeation of other cations. Regulates more or less directly intracellular calcium concentration and CaMKII phosphorylation, and thereby the density of dendritic spines. Modulates neuronal activity in the circuits underlying innate fear.
