Description
Human BAX Recombinant Protein (N-GST & C-His)
Human BAX Recombinant Protein (N-GST & C-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Ser16-Gln171, with an N-terminal GST tag and a C-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 45.73 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Apoptosis regulator BAX is a ~21 kDa protein. Plays a role in the mitochondrial apoptotic process. For research use only.
Under normal conditions, BAX is largely cytosolic via constant retrotranslocation from mitochondria to the cytosol mediated by BCL2L1/Bcl-xL, which avoids accumulation of toxic BAX levels at the mitochondrial outer membrane (MOM). Under stress conditions, undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrion membrane, leading to the release of cytochrome c that then triggers apoptosis. Promotes activation of CASP3, and thereby apoptosis.
