Description

Human BFP ELISA Kit

Human BFP ELISA kits are used to detect Brain Finger Protein (BFP) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. BFP, or brain finger protein, also called RING finger protein 112 or ZNF179, is a RING-type E3 ubiquitin ligase that plays an important role in neuronal differentiation, including neurogenesis and gliogenesis, during brain development. In the embryo it initiates neuronal differentiation by inducing cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase through up-regulation of cell cycle regulatory proteins. BFP is also important in the adult brain, where it contributes to the maintenance of neural functions and to protection of nervous tissue cells from oxidative stress-induced damage. Altered BFP expression has been reported in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental conditions, so it is studied in brain development and neuroprotection.
