Description

Human BIN1 ELISA Kit

Human BIN1 ELISA kits are used to detect Bridging Integrator 1 (BIN1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. BIN1, also known as amphiphysin II, is a BAR-domain adaptor protein that senses and shapes membrane curvature. It is widely expressed, with particularly high levels in skeletal muscle and brain. In muscle, BIN1 is required for formation of T-tubules, the membrane invaginations that couple depolarisation to contraction, while in other cells it regulates endocytosis and vesicle sorting, including trafficking of BACE1 and amyloid-beta production. Mutations in BIN1 cause autosomal recessive centronuclear myopathy, characterised by progressive muscle weakness. BIN1 is also among the strongest genetic risk loci for late-onset Alzheimer disease, and it has been studied as a tumour suppressor that interacts with Myc, so it features in muscle, neurodegeneration and cancer research.
