Description

Human CA12 / Carbonic anhydrase 12 ELISA

CA12 (Carbonic Anhydrase 12) also known as CAIX is a protein that in humans is encoded by the "CA12" gene. CA12 participates in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, as well as fatty acid beta-oxidation, amino acid degradation, and urea cycle metabolism. It catalyzes the interconversion of carbon dioxide and water to bicarbonate and protons. CA12 (Carbonic Anhydrase 12) is known to be expressed primarily in tumors therefore it might be useful for tumor diagnosis and has shown not-specific uptake by renal tubules suggesting it may also be useful for imaging the urinary tract.
