Description

Human CAP3 ELISA Kit

Human CAP3 ELISA kits are used to detect Cytoplasmic Antiproteinase 3 (CAP3) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CAP3, also called serpin B9 or proteinase inhibitor 9, is an intracellular member of the ovalbumin-type serpin family that acts as a specific inhibitor of granzyme B. Granzyme B is the serine protease delivered by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells to induce apoptosis in target cells, and CAP3 protects cells from it. The inhibitor is expressed in cytotoxic lymphocytes themselves, protecting them from their own granzyme B, and in immune-privileged sites such as the placenta, testis and ovary. Many tumours upregulate CAP3, which may help them escape immune killing, and its expression has been associated with poor prognosis in several cancers, so it is studied in tumour immunology and immunotherapy.
