Description

Human CAPS ELISA Kit

Human CAPS ELISA kits are used to detect Calcyphosine (CAPS) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. CAPS, calcyphosine, also known as thyroid protein p24, is a small calcium-binding protein with EF-hand motifs that was first identified in the thyroid, where its expression is induced by cyclic AMP and by thyrotropin signalling. It is also found in other tissues including the airway epithelium, where it is associated with ciliated cells. CAPS is a calcium-binding protein that may play a role in cellular signalling events, acting as a sensor that relays calcium and cAMP-dependent signals within the cell. Altered CAPS expression has been reported in thyroid conditions and in several cancers, and its gene has been examined in studies of cilia-related function, so CAPS is studied as a marker of calcium-dependent signalling.
