Description

Human CBR3 ELISA Kit

Human CBR3 ELISA kits are used to detect Carbonyl Reductase 3 (CBR3) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. CBR3, or carbonyl reductase 3, is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenase or reductase family and is a monomeric NADPH-dependent enzyme found in the cytosol of tissues such as the liver, kidney and gut. It catalyses the reduction of carbonyl compounds to their corresponding alcohols and has weak oxidoreductase activity. It acts on several ortho-quinones, with 1,2-naphthoquinone as its best substrate, but not on para-quinones, and also on non-quinone compounds such as isatin and the anticancer drug oracin. These properties suggest that CBR3 may protect cells against the cytotoxicity of exogenous quinones. No endogenous substrate other than isatin has been identified, and CBR3 is studied in drug metabolism and in the cardiotoxicity of anthracyclines.
