Description
Human CBS Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human CBS Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Lys72-Lys551, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 55.30 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS) is a ~60 kDa protein. Hydro-lyase catalyzing the first step of the transsulfuration pathway, where the hydroxyl group of L-serine is displaced by L-homocysteine in a beta-replacement reaction to form L-cystathionine, the precursor of L-cysteine. For research use only.
This catabolic route allows the elimination of L-methionine and the toxic metabolite L-homocysteine. Also involved in the production of hydrogen sulfide, a gasotransmitter with signaling and cytoprotective effects on neurons.
