Description

Human CD14 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human CD14 ELISA kits are used to detect Cluster Of Differentiation 14 (CD14) in serum, plasma, cell lysates and other biological samples. CD14 is a glycoprotein expressed mainly on monocytes and macrophages, and to a lesser degree on neutrophils, that serves as a coreceptor for bacterial lipopolysaccharide. Together with LBP it binds monomeric LPS and delivers it to the LY96/TLR4 complex, driving signalling through MyD88, TIRAP and TRAF6 to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and inflammation. It also acts as a coreceptor for TLR2 heterodimers with TLR1 or TLR6 in response to tri- and diacylated lipopeptides, and it binds electronegative LDL. Soluble and urinary forms are generated by cleavage. Soluble CD14 levels may be elevated in sepsis, inflammatory disease, HIV infection and cardiovascular disease, and it is used as a marker of monocyte and macrophage activation.
