Description

Human CD72 ELISA Kit

Human CD72 ELISA kits are used to detect Cluster Of Differentiation 72 (CD72) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CD72, also called Lyb-2, is a type II C-type lectin transmembrane protein expressed on B cells throughout their development, though it is lost on plasma cells. It acts as a co-receptor of the B cell receptor and plays both positive and negative roles in B-cell function. CD72 recognises the Sm/ribonucleoprotein self-antigen, and coligation of CD72 and the BCR inhibits BCR signalling through recruitment of the phosphatase PTPN6 to the BCR complex. It also acts as a ligand for CD5 and so helps maintain regulatory T-cell and B-cell homeostasis. Because it restrains autoreactive B-cell activation, CD72 has been associated with autoimmune conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, and it is studied as a regulator of B-cell tolerance.
