Description

Human CNDP1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human CNDP1 ELISA kits are used to detect Carnosine Dipeptidase 1 (CNDP1) in serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid and other biological samples. CNDP1, also known as serum carnosinase, is a dipeptidase that hydrolyses Xaa-His dipeptides and shows its highest activity toward carnosine, the dipeptide beta-alanyl-L-histidine. It is made mainly in the liver and secreted into plasma, and is also expressed in the brain. By breaking down carnosine, CNDP1 limits the availability of a dipeptide with antioxidant, anti-glycation and pH-buffering properties. A polymorphism in the CNDP1 gene that shortens a leucine repeat has been associated with lower serum enzyme activity and a reduced risk of diabetic nephropathy, so CNDP1 level and activity are examined in studies of diabetic kidney disease and of other conditions in which carnosine metabolism may be altered.
