Description

Human COCH ELISA Kit

Human COCH ELISA kits are used to detect Cochlin (COCH) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. COCH, or cochlin, is a secreted extracellular matrix protein that is highly abundant in the inner ear, where it is found in the fibrocytes of the spiral ligament and spiral limbus of the cochlea and in the vestibular labyrinth. It also plays a role in controlling cell shape and motility in the trabecular meshwork of the eye. Mutations in COCH cause DFNA9, a dominant form of progressive hearing loss with variable vestibular dysfunction, whose onset typically occurs in mid-adult life and which affects high frequencies first. Cochlin fragments in perilymph have been explored as indicators of inner ear disease, so COCH is studied in auditory and vestibular research.
