Description

Human CPR ELISA Kit

Human CPR ELISA kits are used to detect Cytochrome P450 Reductase (CPR) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CPR, also called P450 oxidoreductase or POR, is a membrane-bound flavoprotein of the endoplasmic reticulum that contains both FAD and FMN cofactors. It is required for electron transfer from NADPH to cytochrome P450 enzymes in microsomes and can also supply electrons to heme oxygenase and cytochrome b5. Because almost all microsomal P450 enzymes depend on it, CPR is essential for the metabolism of drugs and other foreign compounds and for the biosynthesis of steroid hormones and sterols. Mutations in the POR gene cause a form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia with disordered steroidogenesis, which may occur with skeletal malformations of Antley-Bixler syndrome type. Variation in POR can alter the activity of drug-metabolising enzymes.
