Description

Human CRABP2 ELISA Kit

Human CRABP2 ELISA kits are used to detect Cellular Retinoic Acid Binding Protein 2 (CRABP2) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CRABP2, or cellular retinoic acid-binding protein 2, is a small cytoplasmic protein that binds retinoic acid, the active metabolite of vitamin A. It transports retinoic acid to the nucleus and regulates its access to the nuclear retinoic acid receptors, thereby promoting retinoid-dependent gene transcription that controls differentiation, growth and development. CRABP2 is expressed in the skin and in embryonic tissues, where retinoid signalling is important. Because retinoic acid affects cell proliferation, CRABP2 expression has been associated with several cancers, including breast cancer and neuroblastoma, with context-dependent effects, and its level may indicate how cells respond to retinoid treatment.
