Description

Human CSN1 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human CSN1 ELISA kits are used to detect Casein Alpha (CSN1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants, milk and other biological samples. CSN1, alpha-S1-casein, is a major phosphoprotein of milk, produced in the mammary gland as a component of casein micelles. Its heavily phosphorylated regions bind calcium phosphate, giving it an important role in the capacity of milk to carry calcium and phosphate in a soluble, bioavailable form to the neonate. Proteolytic digestion can release bioactive peptides, including casoxin D, which acts as an opioid antagonist and has vasorelaxing activity mediated through bradykinin B1 receptors. Alpha-S1-casein is also one of the main milk allergens, and variation in its gene has been associated with differences in milk composition and protein content, so CSN1 is studied in dairy science, nutrition and food allergy research.
