Description

Human CTN ELISA Kit

Human CTN ELISA kits are used to detect Creatinine (CTN) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. CTN, or creatinine, is a small nitrogenous waste product formed from the non-enzymatic breakdown of creatine and creatine phosphate, which store energy in skeletal muscle. Because daily production is relatively constant and proportional to muscle mass, creatinine enters the bloodstream at a steady rate and is removed almost entirely by glomerular filtration, with a small contribution from tubular secretion. Serum creatinine and creatinine clearance are therefore widely used to estimate glomerular filtration rate and assess kidney function. Elevated blood levels may indicate reduced renal function, dehydration or muscle injury. Urinary creatinine is also commonly used to normalise the concentration of other urinary analytes for differences in urine dilution.
