Description

Human DCK ELISA Kit

Human DCK ELISA kits are used to detect Deoxycytidine Kinase (DCK) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. DCK, deoxycytidine kinase, is a nucleoside kinase of the deoxyribonucleoside salvage pathway that phosphorylates deoxycytidine, deoxyguanosine and deoxyadenosine, which is the first step in recycling them into DNA precursors. It is especially active in lymphoid tissue and in rapidly dividing cells. DCK has broad substrate specificity, and it is the enzyme that activates many nucleoside analogue drugs used against cancer and viral infection, such as gemcitabine, cytarabine, cladribine and fludarabine. Because loss or reduced expression of DCK is a well-described mechanism of resistance to these drugs, its levels are of interest in oncology research and in the study of chemotherapy response.
