Description

Human DMKN ELISA Kit

Human DMKN ELISA kits are used to detect Dermokine (DMKN) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. DMKN, or dermokine, is a protein produced mainly in the epidermis, where it was first described as an epidermis-specific secreted protein designated SK30/SK89. It is thought to act as a soluble regulator of keratinocyte differentiation, helping to coordinate the transition from proliferating basal cells to the cornified outer layers of the skin. The DMKN gene gives rise to several isoforms through alternative splicing, and expression has also been reported in other epithelial tissues. Altered dermokine expression has been described in inflammatory skin disease and in some tumours, so DMKN is investigated as a possible indicator of epithelial differentiation status, although its precise functions are still being defined.
