Human EIF4A1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-Thr271, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 32.69 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-I (EIF4A1) is a ~46 kDa protein. ATP-dependent RNA helicase which is a subunit of the eIF4F complex involved in cap recognition and is required for mRNA binding to ribosome. For research use only.
In the current model of translation initiation, eIF4A unwinds RNA secondary structures in the 5'-UTR of mRNAs which is necessary to allow efficient binding of the small ribosomal subunit, and subsequent scanning for the initiator codon. As a result, promotes cell proliferation and growth.
