Description
Human EIF6 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human EIF6 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Met1-Thr245, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 28.76 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 6 (EIF6) is a ~26 kDa protein. Binds to the 60S ribosomal subunit and prevents its association with the 40S ribosomal subunit to form the 80S initiation complex in the cytoplasm. For research use only.
Behaves as a stimulatory translation initiation factor downstream insulin/growth factors. Is also involved in ribosome biogenesis. Associates with pre-60S subunits in the nucleus and is involved in its nuclear export. Cytoplasmic release of TIF6 from 60S subunits and nuclear relocalization is promoted by a RACK1 (RACK1)-dependent protein kinase C activity.
