Description

Human ETFa ELISA Kit

Human ETFa ELISA kits are used to detect Electron Transfer Flavoprotein Alpha Polypeptide (ETFa) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ETFa, the alpha subunit of electron transfer flavoprotein, pairs with the beta subunit to form a heterodimeric flavoprotein in the mitochondrial matrix. It accepts electrons from several mitochondrial dehydrogenases, including the acyl-CoA dehydrogenases of fatty acid oxidation and the dehydrogenases for glutaryl-CoA and sarcosine, and passes them to the respiratory chain through ETF-ubiquinone oxidoreductase. It is therefore needed for normal fatty acid oxidation and amino acid and choline metabolism. Defects in ETFA, or in its partners ETFB and ETFDH, cause multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, also called glutaric aciduria type II, which features excretion of glutaric, lactic and ethylmalonic acids and can present with severe metabolic crisis.
