Description

Human FAS ELISA Kit

Human FAS ELISA kits are used to detect Factor Related Apoptosis (FAS) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. FAS, also known as CD95, APO-1 or TNFRSF6, is a cell surface death receptor of the tumour necrosis factor receptor superfamily that binds Fas ligand. Ligand binding triggers recruitment of the adapter FADD, which in turn recruits caspase-8 to form the death-inducing signalling complex, leading to caspase activation and apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis contributes to the induction of peripheral tolerance and to the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T cells, and it is also used by cytotoxic lymphocytes to eliminate target cells. Variants in its gene cause autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome, in which autoreactive lymphocytes accumulate. Altered FAS expression and a soluble form of the receptor have been associated with autoimmunity and cancer.
