Description

Human FATP3 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human FATP3 ELISA kits are used to detect Fatty Acid Transport Protein 3 (FATP3) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. FATP3, encoded by the SLC27A3 gene, belongs to the solute carrier family 27 of fatty acid transport proteins. Unlike some of its relatives, it functions mainly as an acyl-CoA ligase, catalyzing the ATP-dependent formation of fatty acyl-CoA from long-chain and very-long-chain fatty acids, which commits these lipids to downstream metabolic pathways. It can also influence the levels of long-chain fatty acids in the cell by facilitating their movement across membranes, although this transport role appears secondary. Through these activities FATP3 participates in the activation and handling of fatty acids that feed lipid synthesis and oxidation, and it is investigated in studies of cellular fatty acid metabolism and the wider roles of the SLC27 family.
