Description

Human FGg ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human FGg ELISA kits are used to detect Fibrinogen Gamma (FGg) in plasma and other biological samples. FGg is one of the three polypeptide chains that make up fibrinogen, a large plasma glycoprotein synthesised in the liver. Together with the alpha and beta chains it is polymerised by thrombin into an insoluble fibrin matrix, so it is a primary component of blood clots and has a major function in hemostasis. It also stabilises lesions and guides cell migration during early wound repair, supports successful pregnancy, and contributes to the antibacterial immune response, with fibrin deposition protecting against hemorrhage during infection. Variants in the gene are associated with congenital afibrinogenemia and dysfibrinogenemia, which may present with bleeding or thrombosis. Fibrinogen concentration rises as an acute phase reactant, so FGg levels are studied in inflammation and cardiovascular risk.
