Description

Human GAL7 ELISA Kit

Human GAL7 ELISA kits are used to detect Galectin 7 (GAL7) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. Galectin-7 is a small member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside binding lectins and is expressed mainly in stratified squamous epithelium, such as the epidermis, cornea and oral mucosa. It is found in the cytoplasm and can also be secreted and bind to glycans on the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix. Galectin-7 takes part in keratinocyte differentiation, cell adhesion, wound re-epithelialization and the control of apoptosis, and it was first identified as a gene induced by p53. Its expression is altered in several tumors, in some cases promoting and in others restraining tumor progression depending on the tissue. Altered levels have also been reported in skin disease and in the cornea during wound healing.
