Description
Human GM2A Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human GM2A Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning His24-Ile193, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 20.81 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Ganglioside GM2 activator is a ~20 kDa protein. The large binding pocket can accommodate several single chain phospholipids and fatty acids, GM2A also exhibits some calcium-independent phospholipase activity. For research use only.
Binds gangliosides and stimulates ganglioside GM2 degradation. It stimulates only the breakdown of ganglioside GM2 and glycolipid GA2 by beta-hexosaminidase A. It extracts single GM2 molecules from membranes and presents them in soluble form to beta-hexosaminidase A for cleavage of N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and conversion to GM3. Has cholesterol transfer activity.
