Description

Human GRb ELISA Kit

Human GRb ELISA kits are used to detect Glucocorticoid Receptor Beta (GRb) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. GRb, the glucocorticoid receptor beta isoform, is a splice variant of the glucocorticoid receptor gene NR3C1 that differs from the alpha isoform in its C-terminal region. It does not bind glucocorticoid hormones in the usual manner and is found largely in the nucleus, where it is thought to act as a dominant-negative inhibitor of the alpha isoform by competing for DNA binding and by forming non-functional heterodimers. It is expressed at much lower levels than GR alpha in most tissues. Increased GR beta expression has been associated with glucocorticoid resistance in conditions such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and certain leukaemias, and it is studied as a possible determinant of steroid responsiveness.
